We are always working to build a better Barn for you here at Liquor Barn of Kentucky.
Liquor Barns in Kentucky began an exciting new era on August 11, 2009 with the announcement that Liquor Stores N.A. Ltd. had agreed to purchase seven Liquor Barns and two Shoppers Village Liquor stores in Lexington and Louisville , Kentucky .
In October, 2009 Liquor Barn was honored to receive the Business Award of the Governor's Awards in the Arts for “outstanding interest in and support of the arts” at the Capitol Rotunda in Frankfort , Kentucky .
2005 marked the opening of a third Liquor Barn in Lexington , and our seventh here in Kentucky . Located just off Interstate 75 and Man O'War Boulevard , our Hamburg store became our Lexington flagship. With over 50,000 square feet, it serves as a convenient retail hub for our customers in the Bluegrass and Eastern Kentucky, and as a warehouse distribution center for our other two Lexington stores on Richmond Road and Harrodsburg Road in Beaumont Centre
Liquor Barn joined the Louisville marketplace in January of 2002 with the purchase of three existing large party stores formerly known as Liquor Outlet and the Party Source. These Louisville stores now all wear the Liquor Barn banner. They are conveniently located near three major highways: I-64, I-65 and I-71. Our 50,000+ sq. feet flagship store in Louisville is in the Springhurst Shopping Center at 4301 Towne Center Drive, is just off of the Gene Snyder Freeway at Westport Road, centrally located between I-64 and I-71. Our two Louisville satellite stores are over 20,000 square feet each and are located at 1850 S. Hurstbourne Parkway , just off of I-64, and at 3420 Fern Valley Road , off of I-65 and near Louisville 's Standiford International Airport .
The doors of the first Liquor Barns, the Ultimate Party Stores were opened by Robert Rosenstein and his father Irving in October, 1987. Liquor Barns are full service party stores that served to revolutionize the wine and spirits industry by successfully marrying it to its natural and fitting partners: specialty food and party ware, key ingredients in celebrating the good life. From birthdays and bar mitzvahs to weddings and pool parties, every product that a customer could possibly want or need for their special event was now available under one roof. Having grown up with malls and “mega-stores”, our customers understood the concept of “one-stop shopping” and loved the benefits as newly interpreted and embodied at Liquor Barn, their Ultimate Party Sources in Lexington , on Richmond Road and Southland Drive . In 1995, we built a better and bigger barn and opened our 50,000+ square foot Beaumont Centre store. It is located just off Harrodsburg Road at New Circle Road, close to Lexington 's Blue Grass Field and Keeneland Race Course. Beaumont replaced our smaller, nearby Southland Drive store. We also have two smaller neighborhood locations, Shoppers Village Liquor stores, conveniently located in Lexington 's Chevy Chase area, and on New Circle Road at Broadway.
With a keen eye on developing trends, we have helped our customers celebrate the good life for over twenty years by continually adding to our inventory of ultimate party products. One of the most exciting areas of growth for Liquor Barn has been in Kentucky-made products. From the resurgence of Kentucky wineries and the traditional distilling of Kentucky Bourbon to preserves, salsas, barbecue sauces and artisan cheeses, “Kentucky Proud” is a sure sign of good taste in our Commonwealth.
In addition to the retail success that Liquor Barn has achieved, we strongly believe that “it isn't enough to do well, you must also do good”. And boy, does Liquor Barn do a lot of “good” within our commonwealth's communities. In addition to being active and involved board members of numerous charities, we have elevated Liquor Barn's participation in several large yearly charity functions to new heights. Through sponsorships and donations, and with a focus on medical and arts-related non-profit organizations, Liquor Barn has helped raise in excess of a million dollars for those Kentuckians in need over the last two plus decades. Our Kentucky employees are active participants in many of our fund-raising efforts and add to the familial sense of the communities where we live and work.
